Importance of Brake Pads

When a driver applies the brakes, fluid in the brake lines force the brake calipers to squeeze the brake rotors, which slows or stops the wheels of a vehicle. Brake pads cushion the rotors from becoming damaged by the amount of force applied. Over time, the pads deteriorate from dirt, debris and the excessive friction they endure. Vehicle owners may notice that it takes longer to slow or stop. They might also hear squealing. These are indications the brake pads need replacing.

The pads need replacing at intervals. The type of pads needed depend on the type of vehicle you own. Brake pads are made from many different types of materials and designed for different types of vehicles. Some contain ceramic components and others contain metal. There are also brake pads designed to reduce noise while having added protection from environmental dirt.
