In 2018, the Mazda3 has new standard equipment. Some of these new standards would be a SKYACTIV-G engine, a bi-LED headlight, LED daytime running lights, a rear deck lip spoiler, and a smart city brake support. A few of the packages have received some updates as well. What are the two Skyactiv engine options?

On the Mazda3 you can choose between two Skyactiv engines. The Sport trim comes with a 2-liter inline-4 with 155 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque. This engine is capable of reaching a steady 27/37 miles per gallon with a manual transmission and 28/37 with an automatic transmission. The second engine is standard on the Touring and Grand Touring. This 2.5-liter inline-4 produces a strong 184 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque. On the sedan, this engine can reach 25/34 miles per gallon with a manual transmission and 27/36 miles per gallon with the automatic. The hatchback, on the other hand, comes with 25/33 miles per gallon with the manual and the automatic has 26/35 miles per gallon. All models come in front-wheel drive with the choice of a six-speed automatic or a six-speed manual transmission.

What does each model offer for features?

The Mazda 3 comes with the option of a four-door or five-door body style in three trim levels: Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring. The standard features on the Sport trim include keyless ignition, remote keyless entry, emergency telematics, two USB ports, folding rear seats, a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, a rearview camera, and a few safety features. On the hatchback, a rear spoiler and alloy wheels would also be added. Additional safety features can be added to the sedan model through a Preferred Equipment package. The Touring trim adds to the Sport with features like simulated leather upholstery, 18-inch wheels, heated front seats, keyless entry, and dual-zone automatic climate control. The top trim, the Grand Touring, further adds to the features list with a sunroof, LED lights, leather upholstery, a satellite radio, and a nine-speaker surround system. The Premium Equipment package can also be added to this trim for additional safety and security features.

What types of safety features are there?

Every Mazda3 comes standard with a tire pressure monitoring system, side impact air curtains, a body ring structure, smart city brake support, LATCH, a rearview camera, a collapsible steering column, advanced dual front airbags, both front and rear side impact door beams, adjustable headrests, remote keyless entry with panic button, a trunk entrapment release system, and whiplash-reducing front headrests. The next trim level up adds standard rain-sensing windshield wipers and advanced blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert. Additional features can be added through packages.
